40 days of… pictures…

hi friends.

i’ve been thinking about this for a while. i can’t believe i’ve put off telling you about this whole thing till the day before i wanted to start! man. i’m lame. what can i say?

anyway. let me tell you about this *idea* i’ve had!

Today is Fat Tuesday… tomorrow marks the first day of Lent. That means it’s 40 days until Easter! It’s a time that was historically used by the church to prepare us for Christ’s resurection. So, you know how you usually give up something for Lent? The purpose of that, really should be something along the lines of giving something up/fasting to allow that time to be used to focus on God. Now, I’m all for fasting. In fact, i believe that I have not fasted enough in day to day life! But I have another idea, peeps.

My idea: I’m going to take at least one picture a day.  My idea was instead of “giving up” something to focus on God more, i’m going to take pictures of the world around me to “focus” on God more <><  {ha. goofy? yes. cheesy? um, very! But o well}

Sometimes we get so stuck in the grind that we don’t take time to notice. We don’t see the little things around us that are gifts from our Creator. We don’t take time to “smell the roses” that God put there! Well, maybe not you, but me… I don’t open my eyes! I’m really bad at getting grumpy about my day and not noticing the beautiful sunset. Or barely dragging myself out of bed in time that i don’t see the daffodils that are popping up (!!eek!!) in the morning. Or going about being busy busy and then don’t notice when sweet Husbuddy cleans the kitchen. eek! or when PuppyCakes learns a new trick and wants to show me. these little gifts from God should be noticed kimberly renee!  So, in an effort to prepare my heart through Lent, my goal is to be inspired.

To give God the chance to inspire me with something of His glory every day of lent.

Anyway, I wanted to let you in on my idea so anyone who wanted to, could join me!

I’m going to try really really hard to take a picture every day. I’ll post it and then you can share your link of your picture if you want! That’s all you have to do! Just open your eyes to the little things and get your camera out every  single day.

Have you seen Madeline Bea’s 365 days of a picture a day? She’s a rockstar. I mean… 365 days? that’s a long time! I’m going for 40 days and i’m worried i’m going to fail already. But she gave me the idea that I need to get out my camera… EVERY. DAY.  1. just to practice how to use it!  and 2. to capture the little moments that pass us by if we don’t open our eyes to notice them.

So. Another reason I’m informing you of my Lenten resolution… is so that you can hold me accountable. here i give you permission to lecture me if i forget a day! HA. Just the fact that I’ve now told my husbuddy AND you means that i have that many more people to hold me accountable…which means i better get my butt in gear… and get this whole thing… in FOCUS

So, what about you? Are you giving up something for Lent? Or doing something special? Or are you going to join me?{yes please!}
