a Sweet Find… keys

I don’t know what’s with me lately. I guess it’s too much historic architecture all around me lately:

(i love these arches though… don’t you?! and they are RIGHT here in P-town!)

but- my point- I can’t get enough of old fashioned keys! I love their shape and the interesting stories that must be behind the real ones… And why were they made that interesting and beautiful anyway? And why don’t we make keys like that anymore?

In one of the old houses we’re working on there’s a couple of sweet old keys that are just awesome and makes me wonder about what that little key has seen and heard.

(isn’t that just the cutest little play house from the 1800s ever?! Sorry I keep posting this picture… I just love this house! and now i’m talking about it’s keys… so don’t mind me)

so…Last weekend I went a little crazy… πŸ™‚ First I bought these from pottery barn:

I know I know… you say, pottery barn? come on. How lame is that when I could find way cooler stuff on etsy or a vintage shop or something? but what can I say? I just thought they were so fun!

and I got them today! πŸ™‚ Now I just have to figure out where to put them… Any suggestions?!

Then, I found this awesome etsyΒ  site! And she has key earrings and necklaces, (as well as a ton of other beautiful jewelry that I’m totally tempted by…) then I got to see her blog and totally adore her! πŸ™‚ Check out her blog! πŸ™‚ So beautiful Casey!

the dilemma…see… this (or the earrings) is supposed to be my little sister’s birthday present… but maybe i’ll just keep it for myself. πŸ™‚ hmmm. shh. don’t tell her.

anyhoo. thanks for getting through all my rambling πŸ™‚

Hope your day is wonderful!

Oh I love those keys – how big are they? You could do so many different things with them. Just keep them away from Sammy. I am better. How are you both?

Aren’t they awesome?! The biggest one is 7″ I believe. Some of them are a little too green-trying to look copper-y but I think they’re really cool. We’re both still sick. πŸ™
