creative cupcakes

on sunday, i took a class at Whole Foods with a couple of friends. it was a class to learn how to use fondant on cupcakes. i personally have always been afraid of the idea of fondant. but it was super easy and forgiving to use! some future me is going to be thankful for this opportunity 😉

in the class we made hedgehogs:

it was all of Jenna’s idea for dragging us there getting us to go.  🙂 thanks friend!

Abby was there too. {and yes, they managed to wear matching stripped shirts 🙂 hee hee}

we started out learning how to roll the fondant and cut two different shapes to create the face and… hair(?) of a hedgehog:

then we used a straw that was cut to create the mouth and eyelashes. and we gave him a little nose.

then we embellished the cute little dudes.

these two cuties are Abby’s beautiful creations.

then we also got to experiment with other ideas… Jenna wants to make a “very hungry caterpillar” for her little boy’s 1st birthday

it’s almost there! i’m pretty sure Isaac’s birthday cake is going to be the cutest thing ever.

here we are with our creations:

so, now i know how to use fondant! And i know to be on the lookout for other fun classes given by Whole Foods 🙂 you should be on the lookout too. it’s always fun to learn something new!
