happy birthday to a sweet sister far away

this is set to post SUPER early in the morning so that it can go live in time for my sister’s birthday in Japan!

this sweet sissy of mine deserves a huge shout out for her birthday! she is so special and sweet and loving and loyal and FUNNY. and earlier this year i had the experience of a life time when i got to visit her!  {to see any of my japan posts click here:  part 1part 2part 3part 4, part 5,part 6, part 7}

she is teaching english to middle-school age kids in a small town in Japan. she is living in the mountain region near Osaka.

she is loving on kids who she doesn’t even always understand. an age that seems impossible to so many people. yet she ROCKS at it. her principle at the school she works at, sat us all down when we were visiting and told us that she is a gift. and she is!

my sweet Becca is such a gift!

i know it’s hard for her sometimes to be so far away. i think she is really sad that she isn’t closer for when baby girl arrives too. i know that i wish she could meet baby girl right away!!

but she is living an adventure! i’m in total awe of her courage and strength. God has such a beautiful plan for her and is using her adventurous spirit. IMG_1533_golden pavilion family

and if you ever get a chance to know her, you will find she is the most hilarious person ever.

seriously, i’m so boring and plain-jane compared to her!   IMG_1490_becca playing with the animals

i laugh SO much when i am with her. most of the time people don’t really get her jokes. especially in japan…where they don’t really do jokes or sarcasm anyway… which makes her even more hilarious.

i’m so proud of her and the woman that God is creating her to be. her heart is HUGE. she loves people so much and i love that about her.

we don’t get to see each other as often as we’d like. but i’m thankful for the times we have had together. i’m thankful too that we’ve grown to be such better friends since growing up. when we were kids we *may* have been enemies… not going to lie. ha. but she and i have worked through a lot and now whenever we are together we can just laugh about that little part of our history.

my wish for her, on her 27th birthday, is for joy. that she may find joy where she is half a world away. i know that it’s so hard to be so far away from her home and those she loves. but i pray that she may find joy in the place that God has placed her and that her joy may spread and be contagious to all those around her. that her 27th year may be FULL of joy.

that true joy may bring her closer to her great God.

Romans 15:13

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Happy birthday, Becca!

may you be joy-filled this year!!

i love you!
