one person’s trash is another’s treasure…

that’s such a silly old saying. i’m not sure this counts as “treasure” but it is funny what you find in other people’s trash cans.  going for a walk, pushing a stroller and walking the dog, a few weeks ago i found someone had thrown something out for the trashman to pick up. well, hello, treasure! so what did i do?

stuck it on top of the stroller.

let’s just say, this has happened more then once…

{like that time i found a box of dishes on the side of the road and turned it into a mops project… just saying… my eyes are ALWAYS open!}

this particular time we found this:

found

let’s just say i looked really cool walking home as fast as possible. {and why is it i always find things the farthest from home?}

anyway, that very day i washed it down and got to work. here is the before. before i think if i found this at a store, i probably wouldn’t buy it. but for free? and all i’m spending is the cost of a can of spray paint? i am in desperate need of outdoor furniture, so why not start with a little side table? wouldn’t it be cute with the rust gone and with a plant sitting on it?

and i must admit, i was scared that Husbuddy would be annoyed with me for bring home trash again. he is afraid of our house looking like white trash from all the random pieces i find… ha. so i got to work right away so he couldn’t complain!

during  at the moment i’m loving all things yellow and happy. so that’s what i went with! it took a few coats to get into all the nooks and crannies but it was SUCH an easy project. and how cute is the finished product? after  can you believe someone was going to dump that in the landfill?  front porch honest to goodness true picture of my front porch. see? it needed a little happy. and now if i could just convince Husbuddy to build a swing, this porch would be an awesome place to sit in! {or maybe i’ll find an old metal bench or something that someone’s throwing away…} TABLE REDO  until then, a happy front door will have to do.

what about you? find any trash that you turned into something beautiful lately?
