rain on the window {day 7}

day 7

it’s a rainy day here. as it is on most of the east coast.

it’s dreary and dark outside. i found a leak in our roof. the drip, drip, drip on our floor found me racing for a towel and a bucket.  and then found another from our porch into our basement (yes! the newly-as-in-just-this-weekend-painted one!). the stress level is high. there is so much to be overwhelmed with. and the rain just keeps coming down sideways.

but isn’t rain a part of life? things will always come. life is not always a bright sunny day, is it?

i think the trick is to remember that God designed the rain to be good. just as He designed the sunshine to be good. the rain comes and cools the hot fall weather and brings moisture to the dry and thirsty land.  it is natural and beautiful and provides much needed grace…even when we don’t think we need it.

“Shower, O heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain down righteousness; let the earth open, that salvation and righteousness may bear fruit; let the earth cause them both to sprout; I the Lord have created it.”

Isaiah 45:8

rain causes plants to flourish. rain in our lives causes us to grow and flourish into the child that God created us to be. rain is the only way one can bear fruit of any kind.

and besides, what’s more fun on a rainy day then jumping in puddles?
