Oh hi there. we had a baby

i guess most people who follow the blog know that. and that is why i’ve been m.i.a.

Corinne Hope was born November 13th at 1:16pm.  {you say it: Cor- Inn} We call her Cora for short. Or “baby tora” as Sophia says.

it’s been an adjustment the last 5 1/2 weeks. it’s been hard having to deal with a newborn and a toddler.

but it’s been so beautiful too.

we’ve loved every minute of getting to know sweet Cora. she is such a sweetheart and is starting to smile! and big sister LOVES being a sister! she’s so motherly and tries so hard to be helpful {ahem, sometimes she tries too hard!} but we are adjusting and loving the gift of life! Here are a couple pictures of the first few days until next time.  brand-new-grabbing-daddys-finger newborn

10 years

dear Husbuddy,

10 years. how has it been 10 years?! we were so young and naive! we were babies! we had no idea what we were doing with life, with finances, with jobs and vocations and goals and planning… BUT i wouldn’t have it any other way then growing up with my best friend.

the Lord has blessed us love. looking back we can see his hand guiding us each year.

“The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong for the Lord upholds his hand.”

Psalm 37:23-24

i tried to find a few pictures for each year. i also just wanted to list where we’ve been in each of those years. it gets long: 9+ jobs, 7 locations, 5 states, 5 different degrees, 1 new puppy, 1.5 babies…  10 years is  a long time!

so here goes…

get married, go on honeymoon, move in together in Spokane WA. husbuddy finishes his college degree while i work in architecture.

moments are gifts

can i just say, things are CRAZY in the world right now?

there’s SO much else to say, and at the same time maybe not much else to add to all that’s being said. except maybe just to repeat one more time, “Come Lord Jesus.”

sometimes that’s all i can whisper as see the news and then as i go along my daily rhythm of this little insignificant life. today, all i need to do, is to DO today. to do it well, the best that i can, for the glory of the Lord. and to just keep whispering my prayers and heart to the Lord.

each moment we have is a gift. each breath, a gift.

so, to remind myself of the beauty God has given me in the momentary day to day, here are a few snapshots of our week. 2016-07-07 15.21.01-1 the heat. oi. it’s been hot here! praise the Lord for sunshine! and get me in the kiddie pool NOW.

2016-07-09 13.47.28

so, crazy and random story that makes our world smaller- this guy(Mark) was the college pastor at my home church when i was in college. he married us. then a few years ago he decided to take an adventure and become an actor in NYC! we’ve always wanted to go see him in one of his shows but just never got around to it. BUT THEN, he just so happens to be in Lancaster! performing in the beautiful Fulton Theater! so fun! of course we had to go see him. and share a few meals/coffee dates to catch up.

i LOVE it when the world gets smaller like that!

2016-07-11 11.31.20-2  we made a quick day trip to the beach this week. we’ve never been to Cape May and decided we could swing a quick trip and go exploring. the little miss was hilarious and wanted to wear the little swim cap that came with her swimsuit(but only for like 5 min- also, can you STAND how cute that suit is?). Praise the Lord for silly little toddlers and always always always for the ocean.  2016-07-11 16.04.41 and praise the Lord for cute little towns! it was so fun to walk around a little after a few hours at the beach!

2016-07-13 09.18.02

this week we’ve also been doing a little home renovation diy. it’s been exhausting but i’m so thankful for a Husbuddy who’s willing to jump in and make my little design dreams come to fruition! our ceiling in the guest bedroom was horrible… but now if i do say so myself, it’s gorgeous. i’ll do another post soon about that. i praise the Lord for my handy-man. tee hee.

2016-07-13 20.04.13 praise the Lord for little baby girl growing! and apparently i can’t spell. LOL. doh. papaya. p-a-p-a-y-a.

2016-07-15 18.09.15

and i just praise the Lord for this little darling who loves her daddy o so much. she grabs his face and kisses him hard. this kiss was mostly because he got her ice cream and had just said he was going to take her to the park(her FAVORITE) tee hee. SO cute.

i praise the Lord for these little moments in my life. i thank Him for His providence of EACH moment as i pray for the world all around me.

come Lord Jesus.

mothers day mothers day2 mothers day3

if i had been more on top of my game i would have had this post out for mother’s day. ha. oh well! for mother’s day we went on a little day-cation on saturday as a family. we went to Longwood Gardens (in the rain) and then out to lunch and one of my all time favorite places(can ya guess where we are?). it was a lovely day that reminded me how thankful i am to be a mother to this little girl. i know a few friends who’ve struggled with infertility or infant loss and i know how fragile life is. this little girl is a gift. each moment is a gift. the hard days are just as much a gift as the good days.

and then i read this:

such a beautiful reminder! i do not deserve this blessing. God gave me this blessing of motherhood to glorify Himself in my life more than i could imagine. praise the Lord.

which also makes me even more thankful to announce this:

prego announcement1

as if you couldn’t tell from the photos of me above. 😉

for those of you who didn’t know, we had an early miscarriage this past fall. it rocked me to the core. i really struggled with the loss and fear that i would never get to be pregnant again. but praise the Lord, He has seen fit to bless us and He has plans for this little baby! so, i’m going to get to be a mother again!

and i am so thankful.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Eve!

we’ve had a busy and eventful Advent season. i can’t believe it’s already Christmas! a few highlights from our season are: picking out the tree, all three of us getting sick, having Sophia’s first hot chocolate, mama and daddy planning a cool diy gift for Sophia(another post), playing with the nativity set(can’t you hear Sophia saying, ‘of course Tinker bell had to be there to worship Jesus too, Mama’), daily admiring of the tree and all the lights and decorations, mama crazy busy with etsy sales, potty training(WHAT!? why did i start that in such a busy season, you ask? ahhhh who knows…cause i’m crazy?), getting a cool advent wreath and doing daily advent devotionals.

it has been a beautiful, precious, crazy season. Sophia is at such a fun and busy age. we are very excited to celebrate together tomorrow!

here are a few pictures from our month:

Isaiah 9: 2-7

“The people who walked in darkness
    have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
    on them has light shone.
You have multiplied the nation;
    you have increased its joy;
they rejoice before you
    as with joy at the harvest,
    as they are glad when they divide the spoil.
For the yoke of his burden,
    and the staff for his shoulder,
    the rod of his oppressor,
    you have broken as on the day of Midian.
For every boot of the tramping warrior in battle tumult
    and every garment rolled in blood
    will be burned as fuel for the fire.
For to us a child is born,
    to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon[d] his shoulder,
    and his name shall be called[e]
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and of peace
    there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
    to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
    from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.”

Merry Christmas friends! we send you our love and pray the Lord reminds you of Himself this Holiday.

friends from p-town

“Words are easy, like the wind; Faithful friends are hard to find.”

William Shakespeare

we are so blessed to have moved so much that we have pockets of friends from all around the country. i mean, we spent a year here and a few years there, another year there, that really, it’s just like we collected all these people into our lives and then left for the next place…

what. ok. well, i’m CHOOSING to look at it as a blessing. i miss friends from each place we’ve lived! oh man. it’s hard sometimes!

thankfully some of our friends from our time in Princeton are still there and still want to be our friend too. ha. trust me, it’s rare that people want to keep up with you when you’ve moved away! so we talked these sweet people into coming to Lancaster for a sleepover.

truth be told, instead of just a day trip, we knew that the BEST time to catch up with dear friends is after all the kids are  in bed. it was so fun for them to visit!

it was also fun to have the two toddlers play together. they’ve only gotten together a couple of times, last year in the poconos and when we first met little Graham. they are only two months apart so that time gap is really disappearing. here are a few shots from our trip together. i wish there was more but at the same time i’m glad i didn’t have the camera out the whole time, you know what i mean? gate trouble let us out of here why won’t you open this gate or pick us up? not funny guys playdate at coffee shop  play date at the new coffee shop in Strasburg! noodles

dinner at noodles and company. the only picture with adults. how did that happen? kiddos  the kids all making a similar face…tee hee hee. sophie close up oh yes, and bathtime together with friends is the best. bathtime hee hee Graham was trying to be tricky. bathtime1  but they are the sweetest! it’s so fun to watch them play and interact! {especially compared to the first time they met, lol.}

also, please note, Sophie had a swollen eye from landing face first when she tripped and Graham had a cut from something similar…both these things made us look like an awesome pair of parents walking around town, but really, they’re toddlers…and they survived! ha. and both are safe and fine so please don’t worry.

anyway. visits with friends are so special and so dear. it meant so much that they came. do you make an effort to stay in touch with special friends who’ve moved away? trust me, those friends love having you keep in touch! we sure do! thanks friends for coming and until next time!!

a little family vacation

last week we were blessed with a gift of a cabin on a lake in the poconos for a couple days. it was lovely to have a little family vacation before the summer church schedule kicks up a notch. we had lots of rain, but there was also a mostly clear day that we were able to do a bit of exploring. mt pocono3

the cabin is right next to a little beach area. Sophia loved splashing in the lake and ADORED all the ducks and the swan that came to visit. mt pocono we took Sophia on her first canoe ride. she loved it once we got in the boat! it was getting ready that made her nervous.   mt pocono2 she was super excited to be in the life jacket… haha. {actually it was the fact that i made her turn around and face daddy instead of the swan.} mt pocono5  our little adventurous family. i was so proud of her. she did fantastic out there on the lake! and well, you know Sammie loves a good ride on the lake… {haha that post is here} mt pocono4

she loved it i promise! mt pocono pda other things we did included a little PDA in a local brewery, mt pocono games  and we played lots of games during naps and after baby bedtime.

such a blessing to have this time together! right now Husbuddy is down in Florida at general assembly. i’m SO missing this.

have any of you ever been to the Poconos?
