a new painting!

This is one of my favorite monastic prayers. I don’t remember where it’s from… if you do, please let me know!! I hope you enjoy the new painting.

“God,

grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,

courage to change the things I can

and wisdom to know the difference.” amen.

I’m so in love with it, but I keep seeing things that need to be fixed so who knows if I’ll put it on etsy 🙂 i think i need to add more detail to the girl’s arms and hands. they don’t feel finished. and i played with encaustic so i’m afraid i made it a little too messy. but this is just me being judging myself too hard. what do you think?

a girl and her dog

so I have this idea for a card…or maybe a few… what do you think? a girl and her dog? maybe lots of girls and their dogs? i don’t know where i got that idea or anything… ha.

but…

Let me show you my inspiration… 🙂

Do you remember my friend Jenna? Isn’t she cute? yes, I know WAY cuter than me. ha. Way sweeter too… so watch out.

She’s an artist too. More like a professional one because I’m just an architect wanna be artistic person where as she has her degree in fine art and everything… She’s AMAZING. If she had a blog I’d link it. But she hasn’t gotten into this massive time eater yet like i have. haha. jk. i didn’t mean that. you know what i mean…i link to one blog then another, next thing i know, it’s been an hour… obviously i have time to waste on here and she doesn’t. hee hee.

and remember her dog Charlie? Personally, i think Charlie is an ADORABLE name for a cute little white (Cocker Spaniel/Bicon Frise mix) dog like this one:

how does your heart just not melt? 🙂

so… duh dun dum…. i’m inspired! a girl and her dog –my latest artwork!

a girl and her dog

but… allorra (as my italian teacher would say rolling her r’s with her whole mouth).. stupid technology… the scanner cut off the verse for this painting. Pslam 46:5 is one of my favorites to encourage me everyday. Click here to see the whole verse

anyway, hopefully it doesn’t creep you out that you were my inspiration Jenna and Charlie! It’s just my favorite to make “portraits” of sorts. Look how well behaved Charlie is pretending to be in this picture! 🙂 hee hee. And of course, Jenna’s parisian style 🙂 she’d totally wear a sweet hat like that…

To see another “portrait” Check out my mother-law’s Christmas present from me. A “portrait” of the family clan…not to mention a VERY nice little blog… 🙂 (also check out the red sweater in the picture… it’s my husband’s christmas sweater that he wears all freakin year!) hee hee.

see? told you that i  like to do portraits…. not real ones… but ones that capture a little bit of a person that you can connect to but doesn’t have to look just like them…or have facial features… haha… you know what i mean.

anyway. here’s to Jenna and Charlie!

 O. I guess I’ll send a shout out to her husbuddy Justin too…:)

we are so lucky for friends like you two! and for expensive wine bars…. and for silly dances… and anthropology shopping dates… and nonstop mario cart crazyness…and way too many settlers games… and dog dates… i mean really, if it weren’t for our dogs, we wouldn’t be friends… jk. 🙂 haha.

a sad puppy

this past week our dear little puppy got completely loved on and spoiled with attention from his grandparents Pam and Doug. 🙂 look how happy he is in Pam’s arms!

so lovedhow happy

there wasn’t any chance of being ignored this past week like sometimes he is when my husband has homework or i’m painting or sewing or reading or something.

how much of a puppy face can you get?so sad!

so then this morning he was distraught that they were missing. he seems tired from all the attention but o boy does he miss them!! look how he longingly looks out the window to see if he can see them coming… o the life of a sad little puppy who misses grandma and grandpa. haha

where are they?

on another note, Pam is an awesome artist! yesterday we spent all day making a mess while she was teaching me how to transfer. what fun!

here is one of my little creations. it is dedicated to my dear friend Andrea who is 8 weeks pregnant today!a gift of life

A Sunday Sketch… a day late…

I know I’m a little out of control here, but I’ve been meaning to post all of these from this past weekend. The sisters is my favorite,  but these too are just a couple of sketches that are fun. 🙂 Let me know what you think!

there's always hope

This one is really important to me. I heard a song on the radio the other day where one of the main lines was “be as you are” talking to a girl who was looking at magazines for her self image or to a teenager who threw up to stay thin enough for the world around her. The message of the song was, Young girl, be who God made you to be, because you are beautiful just as you, you are one of a kind, no one can be as beautiful as you are, because no one else is YOU!be as you are

Journey Together

Journey Together ... dedicated to my sisters... Amy and Becca :)

Journey Together ... dedicated to my sisters... Becca and Amy:)

To my sisters. You are both better than me. More beautiful. So very much more funny all the time-how do you do it?  So smart and wise. You always have something good to say. If you don’t you’re quiet and usually are reading a book. You don’t get caught up in the world- your focus is above. I’m so thankful for you both, both of you my beautiful, sweet, sisters. Let us journey this life together always.

Love me Always dear one

Love

I just can’t get enough of painting these past few days! That’s all I did this weekend.  I wasn’t too impressed with most of what I finished. But I felt creative and I was getting back into the swing of things after a long time away.

So I love painting people “portraits” of family and friends. I’ve done a lot of different paintings the past few years but I keep giving them away! So I’m determined to try to do some to keep as well as sell.  This little couple makes me smile and get all warm and fuzzy inside 😉 ha. The small text says, “by their fruits ye shall know them”. To me this means that the love that this couple is showing the world is true and everyone can recognize their “fruit” of love by how they treat each other as well as others with love. To use the cliche, “love covers all sin.” Please let me know what you think of one of my first attempts of the fall.
