apple-adventuring we will go

flowers2 i am ages behind in my posts. i have plenty in the works, mind you. but i just can’t seem to find to get them out.

wagon-ride well, today’s post is from weeks ago, but i just wanted to share some photos from when we went apple picking in September. i actually got out my big camera(what!?) because i really DO want to practice that habit more! it also was a RARE day off for Husbuddy. he has had a hard couple of months at work and so we jumped on the opportunity for some family time.

she helped to pick apples, of course (because everything is “me help!”) but her favorite part was the wagon ride to the orchards.

donut-apple oh another favorite= the apple cider donut for the ride. what’s not to love about this? apple in one hand, donut in the other. girl after her mama’s heart.

getting-apples  we really enjoyed the view and a new adventure. these apples were destined for applesauce!

maze  then we found a maze. you guys, i was so impressed that Sophie picked this up right away! she was showing daddy the way out!

they also had a “pick your own” flower section. loved it.   flowers mother-and-daughters-next-to-flowers and even though i felt huge, i wanted a picture of me with both my babies! ha. flowers+ sweet toddler + belly, doesn’t get much more blessed! #thankful

the rest

“So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy…”
Matthew 28:8

Afraid yet filled with joy. I love those words!

“If you are afraid of who God might be, you’re not alone. The story of Jesus’ gruesome death and quaking resurrection should shake us to our core, just as it did the guards at the tomb. But believers have this distinct and extraordinary gift: our fear lives side by side with our joy. He is who He said He is—the very Son of God. What a fearsome, wonderful thought!”

He is Risen! Praise God for what is accomplished on Easter! on Easter sunday and every other single day! i love this little tidbit from She Reads Truth. “afraid yet filled with joy” -isn’t that a beautiful thought? it reminds me of that quote from CS Lewis, Chronicles of Narnia,

““Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
C.S. Lewis, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

so, i FINALLY have gone through the rest of my lenten project photos. you guys, i totally failed at doing it every day. the past two weeks my little house has been sick with a couple different bugs and i have been OUT. so, i’ll just take what i can get and trust that the Lord knows i tried my best.

lent photos {continued}

For thus says the Lord,
who created the heavens
    (he is God!),
who formed the earth and made it
    (he established it;
he did not create it empty,
    he formed it to be inhabited!):
“I am the Lord, and there is no other.
I did not speak in secret,
    in a land of darkness;
I did not say to the offspring of Jacob,
    ‘Seek me in vain.’
I the Lord speak the truth;
    I declare what is right.

Isaiah 45:18-19

day 21 day 22 day 23 day 24 day 25

lent images

here are some of our photos for lent from this past week:

day 15 day 16 day 17 day 18 day 19

day 20

  • day 15 – helping daddy plant some tomato seeds!
  • day 16 – essential  oils to the RESCUE! i’m a total addict but you guys, they are amazing.

{they work so well! we all fought a sickness this weekend. most of the time these oils help keep sickness away, but when we do get it, i KNOW these oils help our bodies fight the sickness better! especially for a Husbuddy who has a weak immune system. he used to ALWAYS get sinus infections and since using oils, he only gets them once in a while. i call it a win. and they also help him fight the cold/sickness way better! i know they help sophia a lot too. she has only had one ear infection in her life and i totally blame attribute it to the oils. whew. i kinda went off there. i could probably do a lot of posts about it. contact me if you want to chat about it.}

  • day 17 – tea cups make me happy…because it means tea!
  • day 18 – i got the paint brushes out… WHAT. it felt so good. more to come i’m sure.
  • day 19 – rearranging of furniture happens ALL THE TIME at my house. sorry/notsorry husbuddy.
  • day 20 – cute little fingers holding a cute little cup of milk. cuteness.

rain showers in febuary

there’s been a lot of rain the last few days. there was even a tornado that touched down near our church! it’s been crazy. but i’ve been thinking about showers and blessings and this from Charles Spurgeon’s Morning by Morning:

“I will send down the showers in their season; they shall be showers of blessing.” Ezekiel 34:26

Here is sovereign mercy–“I will give them the shower in its season.” Is it not sovereign, divine mercy?–for who can say, “I will give them showers,” except God? There is only one voice which can speak to the clouds, and bid them beget the rain. Who sends down the rain upon the earth? Who scatters the showers upon the green herb? Do not I, the Lord? So grace is the gift of God, and is not to be created by man. It is also needed grace. What would the ground do without showers? You may break the clods, you may sow your seeds, but what can you do without the rain? As absolutely needful is the divine blessing. In vain you labour, until God the plenteous shower bestows, and sends salvation down. Then, it is plenteous grace. “I will send them showers.” It does not say, “I will send them drops,” but “showers.” So it is with grace. If God gives a blessing, he usually gives it in such a measure that there is not room enough to receive it. Plenteous grace! Ah! we want plenteous grace to keep us humble, to make us prayerful, to make us holy; plenteous grace to make us zealous, to preserve us through this life, and at last to land us in heaven. We cannot do without saturating showers of grace. Again, it is seasonable grace. “I will cause the shower to come down in his season.” What is thy season this morning? Is it the season of drought? Then that is the season for showers. Is it a season of great heaviness and black clouds? Then that is the season for showers. “As thy days so shall thy strength be.” And here is a varied blessing. “I will give thee showers of blessing.” The word is in the plural. All kinds of blessings God will send. All God’s blessings go together, like links in a golden chain. If he gives converting grace, he will also give comforting grace. He will send “showers of blessing.” Look up today, O parched plant, and open thy leaves and flowers for a heavenly watering.

{ you can find Morning by Morning here or order the book here. it’s so good! emphasis mine}

i love that part about it does not say God will send us drops of blessings… but SHOWERS! God’s grace comes in showers- and usually with such a measure that there is not enough room to receive it all. wow. i’ve been thinking about that the last few days. what do you think about that? what do you think about Spurgeon’s comments?! aren’t they beautiful? i hope you have some inspired pondering from this today.

 here are the latest pictures for the lent project- i think i accidently missed a few days!

day9 day 10 day 11 day 12 day 13 day 14

more photos for lent

“For I desire loyalty and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.”
Hosea 6:6

“You do not want a sacrifice, or I would give it;
You are not pleased with a burnt offering.
The sacrifice pleasing to God is a broken spirit.
God, You will not despise a broken and humbled heart.”
Psalm 51:16-17

i’m pretty sure my posts for lent are going to be REALLY sporadic for when i post and then really random in content. HA. oh well. today i’ve been thinking more about fasting and sacrifice and worship.

God doesn’t desire our sacrifice, He desires our worship. He desires for us to notice Him, see Him working, and give Him ALL the glory.

and that’s more of what i desire to think about and do through these photos. Give HIM all the glory for the gifts of each day.

  day6 day7

  • day 6- the silly little girl who “helps” me take the dog outside when it’s freezing cold in her socks. the handle is broken so it doesn’t have a latch- she can just push it open. i probably need to fix that…
  • day 7 – those pig tails! that was my aim when i took the photo but then she said “cheese” and gave me a million dollar smile. SWOON and all the HEART EYES! she is a delight and a gift.
  • day 8 -homemade granola. because God has provided everything– down to the granola that i make regularly so that my gf/df hubby can have a yummy cereal. i feel so homey and house-wifey when this is cooking and it smells like heaven when it comes out of the oven and sits on the counter to get all crunchy and yummy. i also read something the other day about how we should try to remember that it hasn’t always been the case that we get three square meals a day- it is only in this modern age and it is a blessing and gift from God alone! {from desiring God on Why we pray for our meals) praise the lord for each little bite.

outtakes: {because i couldn’t help but share some of these!}

helping with sammie2 she can barely reach the handle. {gah, adorbs} which makes it really hard to pull open the door. the tip toes!  girl and baby squeezing baby  she wanted a picture with her baby {of the moment-it changes every five minutes- she loves ALL the babies} and then she couldn’t help but give it a big ol’ squeeze. d’awwwwe

“I do not know You, God, because I am in the way.
Please help me to push myself aside.”
-Flannery O’Connor, A Prayer Journal  -From the SheReadsTruth.com lent devotional

so…anyone out there joining me for the photo a day challenge?! let me know!

a picture a day for lent

it’s been a while. AGAIN. i have just about fallen off the face of the online world. not because i don’t want to be here, but because i feel like i’ve lost my voice and momentum a bit. i’m hoping that just starting, just doing, will get me going again.

so, today, i’m here with my yearly post about lent. about a week late. ha.

i’ve decided to continue with my photo a day project for lent again this year. (you can read the explanation from last year here) So, for the next forty days up until Easter (minus sundays) i will again be attempting to take a photo a day. with my camera–> not just my phone! {clarification to check my lazyness lol}

 And really, the goal is: to get my camera out and notice God’s giftsevery.single.day.

i just want to NOTICE GOODNESS.

have my EYES open and try to SEE what God has placed before me for today.

“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!” Psalm 34:8

why do this for Lent? because lent is a time of preparing our hearts for Easter.  it is usually a time of fasting or giving something up. but the point of giving something up is to notice more of Jesus. to see Him work. if you just give up sweets to go on a diet because it’s the “religious” thing to do, you’re crazy and you’re a pharasee. ha. we can talk about that later if you want. but if your heart is truly in the right place, when you fast, you can focus on the Lord. well, i’m here taking pictures instead of fasting, trying to see what God has placed in front of me every single day. To taste Him and see Him.

in my laziness i’ve delayed writing this post because i couldn’t decide if i really wanted to actually get going and do it. but here it is. my beginning. although late, at least i’m starting! HA. just being honest!

Care to join me? care to be late like me? Maybe you can make it a goal to notice the good around you too! i’d love it if you’d let me know if you’re going to be noticing goodness these next forty days (or so) too!

day1 day2 day3

day4 day 5

  • day 1- new color on the walls!
  • day 2- that sweet grin
  • day 3- coloring valentines in our pjs
  • day 4- making rice krispee treats fancy on a diy cake stand.
  • day 5- flowers from my sweetheart.
