coffee date

hey y’all. i feel like having a coffee date with you. sometimes i get pretty lonely. especially in the winter. especially when i need to keep a semi-consistent schedule for the little miss. i am usually mostly a listener too. it’s hard for me to always start the conversation about random things i’m excited about, but if we could get together for coffee, here are a few things we could talk about!

day 17

first of all, i can’t get over the CUTENESS that is my Pioneer Woman mug. um, agree? ok good. 😉

  • You guys, i am totally copying one of my all time favorite bloggers in sharing this but i feel it must be shared. Emily from Jones Design Company recommended this podcast with Sally Llyod Jones and I MUST recommend it to you. that’s what friend’s do right? recommend things that were recommended to us? well, have y’all heard of the Jesus Story Book Bible? {if not, and you have ANY sort of kids in your life, i HIGHLY recommend it…even without kids i recommend! you guys, it makes me cry at story time!} but this is a podcast discussion with the author’s and it’s just delightful.{partly because of her british accent, i’m not going to lie, but that’s not all! lol} i turned it on while i was doing dishes and making lunch one day and it was just so fun! Happy hour with Sally Llyod-Jones THIS!

  • Removable wall paper? WHAT.perfect for my renter friends and sisters! check it out!  WallsNeedLove.com i think i’m going to have to wallpaper something…any suggestions?

  • this blog post  about motherhood made me cry. i know seriously, what these days doesn’t make me cry? i love Gloria for how she brings theology to motherhood. love love love it! her books are so inspiring and beautiful and this blog post just follows right along that path.  Motherhood is a Gift by Gloria Furman: HERE

  • Also, let’s talk about this store called, Terrain: basically the most amazing garden/house store EVER. it’s Anthropologie’s version of a garden store. just IMAGINE.  but it’s also CRAZY ridiculous expensive…only for the rich. us poor people just get to walk around and try not to drool on something that’s too expensive… but it’s inspring. i went there again a week ago before dropping my mother-in-law at the airport. she usually insists we go. i love that.  also, can i have that centerpiece?

Spring Tabletop

Natural Centerpiece Statements | get the look

also, the other day in MOPS we talked about how important it is to get creative time. about how we are created beings, made by a creative God, and it energizes us to be creative (all in different ways of course). such a lovely and dear topic that is close to my heart. literally! i JUST got some painting in the past few days! as soon as i get a few minutes i’m planning to scan the paintings in and really let ya get a good look. tee hee. so fun! have you done anything creative lately? what fills you up and energizes you creatively?

so basically a coffee date is just an excuse to be TOTALLY random in my blog post. thanks for joining me! i hope you are all well and i’d love to hear from you. leave a note and some love!

you’re welcome.

i’ve been LOVING the Nester’s new book. like i’m going to bed early as i can and reading it every night.  she is so real. husbuddy asked me what it was about though…and all i could tell him was that she’s a christian woman who loves decorating, has lived in 13 houses, is a blogger and is empowering women to create beautiful homes, no matter the budget…she’s sharing her story and giving ideas on how to create beauty. because it doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful! {#idhtbptbb } the nester has been in magazines for things that “professional designers” would literally scoff at. she put duct tape on her walls in a diamond pattern- it turned out gorgeous and she won awards! what?! who does that?

via the nester

um, this lady.

i don’t know how else to say it. she’s so inspiring! check out her book! get it here. or anywhere that sells books.

a couple quotes:

“it finally dawned on my that if i’m not able to let my guard down in a perfect house, maybe others feel the same way. and if other people feel that way, why the heck was i working so hard to make our home appear to be perfect?…imperfections aren’t that bad after all. they are even valuable” pg.57

“i fear a pristine life more than i fear scuff marks on the floor.” -deborah needleman

this diy stripped water color pillow.

hello pioneer woman sangria! i plan on meeting with you on the 4th of july! get the recipe here.

Watermelon Sangria

via the pioneer woman

apparently i think i have all the time in the world to read this summer. i’ve joined the bloom book club. we’re reading the book called Pursue the Intentional Life. it is written by a lady in her 70s who’s still asking God how to be intentional every day. i’ve read the first 3 chapters and fell in love with it already! and to see a video of the author, click here:

a quote from the book:

” a complainer at forty will, with much practice, engrave the response in his or her bones by seventy. self-centeredness will intensify. bitterness, allowed to take root and grow over decades, engulfs and consumes in advanced age. anyone living a frittering existence at thiry will, apart from a serious course correction, end up frittering away an entire life. it is just as true that a person doesn’t suddenly become a wise, kind, gracious, fruitful old person by reaching, say, seventy years. of course, it’s not too late to grow and change(and i take comfort in that) but, more important, it’s never too soon to begin.”

guys, that was on page 16. umm…there’s so much goodness in this book!

and last but not least, i have to share with you this recipe

Baked Sweet and Sour Chicken - No need to order take-out anymore - this homemade version is so much healthier and a million times tastier!

via damndelicious.net

we have made it a couple times already and it turns out amazing! so easy and so good! especially for my gluten-free/dairy-free husbuddy who can’t really make it to most chinese restaurants. so, since it has been a win, i thought i’d share.

which sweet find is your favorite?

sweet things for your evening

bouncer bouncer2

first of all, isn’t this little girl learning how to bounce, and LOVING it, just the sweetest?  baby legs

it’s a little random and a little late at night for me to be blogging, but i wanted to share a few “sweet things” that have caught my eye lately. remember, sweet things are just special little random things i’ve found on the internet to share with you:

this post speaks to my heart reminding me it’s ok to “just” be a mother. sometimes i feel like the world expects me to be a million other things. so thanks for saying that.

this video: hilarious. will farrell and chad smith doing a drum off. husbuddy made me watch it last night while i was up waiting to feed the little miss one more time. haha. WATCH IT now. ha.

headboard side view

the slow process of decorating… in a world of give me everything RIGHT NOW, it’s hard to give myself grace that my house isn’t all put together and organized…RIGHT NOT. lol. i appreciate what Melissa has to say about it here, maybe you will too? {picture from our new headboard project… working on the side tables right now!}

this blog post about saving on groceries: Fun Cheap or Free really, this gal just amazes me with her ideas for budgeting! i have NOT gotten up the gumption or the courage to figure out price matching at walmart…but she saved over half of her grocery bill by doing so. yikes. have any of you ever done that?

field of wildflowers3

and so funny that i wrote this post about a field of wild flowers last week, and then these two posts came up in my feed today. APPARENTLY i still need to work on this because they both speak on the same thing…trusting God to provide!! Here for John Piper speaking so eloquently on the verses that i talked about last week and here Lemonade makin mama just being real and making me fall in love with her all over again.

last of all,  i’m going to join this “book club” to read Pursue the Intentional Life and i’m really excited about it! it’s for the month of june. it looks like a good book and they’ll be talking about it through blogs and videos. you should join me! let me know if you do!

anyway. hope you’re all doing well, friends! let me know which of these links you like the best! hee hee

a few sweet things

apparently i haven’t turned on my computer in over a week! it’s been a good week though, and i’m already working on a few blog posts of what i’ve been up to. {there’s even a couple DIY projects, so look forward to that! yay!}  until then, i thought i’d share a few “sweet” things today.

“sweet” things or “sweet” finds are just special little things that i’ve found on the interwebs that i’d like to share with you.

this sweet girl who makes paper dresses: AMAZING! {and i now follow her instagram which makes me smile EVERYTIME.}

ps. she’s 4 years old. talk about a sense of design!

this blog post about feeling overwhelmed…and about a hebrew word: Radaph:  UM, can we say… over here! pick me pick me! **jumping up and down with hand raised** that would be why i didn’t turn on the computer all last week…

this baby girl rocking her st. paddy’s outfit from our Irish friends:

to see more random pics that i post, check out my instagram.

speaking of our Irish friends, our little Godson, Desmond Philip, was baptized yesterday! Praise Jesus! isn’t he adorable?! i’m so in love and can’t wait to meet him!!

We are proud parents.

{and his momma and i may be planning a wedding already…lol… husbuddy says no body, not even his Godson, is good enough for his baby girl… haha. i’m joking about the wedding…sort of. lol.  ALSO,  how amazingly beautiful is that momma of his? love them all!}

this over at Fieldstone Hill Design about:

Darlene is talking about how we can be bold in what we choose to wear or what we love to put in our house because we have a God, a MASTER DESIGNER if you will, that has made the boldest choices in His design of the universe! He made the beauty around us. He made us to have an eye for beautiful things. why limit that?!  i LOVE what Darlene says about being bold:

“So, if you love that pink chair, And if you LOVE that chunky necklace, then God gave you an eye to appreciate that bold and sculptural beauty. He is the BOLDEST Master Designer there is.”

then there’s this blog post about “passion following“: i just love The Nester.

we were all created with a passion. are you following yours?! i admit, some days are rough to figure out what that passion really IS. like today, we had a couple major wardrobe changes by noon. oh well.  BUT, i still see ways to live in thanksgiving and to live with passion, even over the little things!

enjoy the sweet finds my friends! happy Monday, y’all.

thoughts and randomness.

  • Tuesday was date night. We made these awesome Chicken Panini’s by the Pionieer Woman. (the link connects you to the recipe!) i tried taking a picture, but her picture is just so much more appetizing.
  • Sammie is learning to sit on his pillow while we eat. I abhor begging of any kind!  It’s a tough thing to teach an “old”  (almost 3) dog a new trick, but he’s a good boy!
  • My sister got Husbuddy Farkle for Christmas. We’ve been playing it a lot lately when we just need to laugh together. (scream FARKLE on the top of your lungs everytime you get one and it’ll just throw you into a fit of giggles… or maybe just me?)
  • Friends and family are posting pictures of the crazy snow storm you’re having over in the Pacific Northwest. I’m totally jealous of all your snow! enjoy it for me will you? and while you’re out there enjoying it, maybe make some of this snow ice-cream from Lemonade Making Mama? then tell me how it is? we used to make snow ice cream growing up and this post just made me smile. 🙂
  • i bought this handmade cardi on etsy before Christmas. adore it. i would wear it every day if i could get away with pink stripes every day.
  • So sick of my wardrobe lately. It takes me way too long to get ready in the morning because i just stare at my closet dumbly. i mean,  Husbuddy has to come and check on me to see if i’m still alive. Wish I could dress like Kendi... but I doubt I have the guts to wear pink pants    resources or brain power to think about that right now.
  • These two make redoing your own kitchen so easy… pretty soon, with everyone DIY-ing, architects, like me, won’t have a job. I’m totally in LOVE with Young House Love’s new kitchen and new grouted tile backsplash -which they did themselves. omg. They rock my face off.(did i just say that?) and seriously, it makes me worried about job security! 😉
  • i’m loving this podcast about our “calling” verses our “career”! In the Podcast the lady Bianca is interviewing is talking about her calling, how it is NOT easy, it is not some corporate job that she can just leave at work when 5 roles around, she says, “There is nothing convenient about taking up our cross and following Christ”. Inspiring AND convicting. Am I really living for a calling on my life? or am i trying to make a career?
  • While you’re at it, check out how much God LOVES YOU. buz-light-year style. {comeon- didn’t ya get that? – to infinity and beyond!}
  • speaking of LOVE – i adore finding little hearts all over the place. heart rocks? heart clouds? i love it when a little heart reveals itself to me and makes me smile. Like this sweet heart from an awesome coffee shop in Seattle:

thanks for putting up with all the random nonsense that goes on inside my head. 🙂

you’re the best.

Sweet finds: vintage & JBPL

Last weekend Jenna and I went to the Tomato Factory a really cool group of antique shops. It’s like a coop of antique dealers. Each room is set up by a different dealer so there is a huge mix of styles and things that you can find! Some were ho-hum normal antique stores, but some were designed well and incorporated the new with the old and just different. So much fun! Anyone in the NJ should totally go!!

Here is what I came home with:)

really cool old keys! There were bins of them! I wanted to take all of them home. But the wallet in my purse said i must choose just three for only 10$. 🙂

o the history! 🙂 love love love.

and look at this! I know… I should be totally embarrassed that I spent money on costume jewelry. But these pieces have a special meaning to me. 🙂 My mom has a collection of antique rynstone jewelry and when I was little I loved to look at them and I even wore them to dances in high school! I always wanted my own collection to be just like Mom some day 🙂 So here’s the beginning of mine!

I went with the simple bracelets because again the wallet was reminding me of its presence… but o so pretty! and the history! 🙂 sigh.

In other news: Have you ever heard of Jewels by Park Lane?

I got my order in the mail this weekend! 🙂 whoo hoo! I was so excited!

so… let me show you what i’ve found 🙂

These are brown pearls that are just beautiful and chunky. I have yet to wear them but can’t wait.

This one is my absolute fav! I’ve gotten so many comments on it! You’ll see another picture later.

Keys! yup. I’m obsessed. haha.

another pretty key &  locket. This I got for Christmas. I’ve worn it so much since then!

J’adore. Really. That’s the name of the necklace! It fits so perfectly 🙂 love love love

J’adore earrings. Simple yet perfect for the necklace. You wouldn’t want something too overbearing for the necklace would you?! 🙂

It is a really cool company that works kind of like Mary Kay or Pampered Chef. There are consultants who sell the jewelry. But really… the jewelry kind of just sells itself. SO beautiful! And the company stands behind their jewelry so much that if anything ever goes wrong with it there is a lifetime warranty! I’ve never heard of that for jewelry before! Awesome huh!?

My mom is a JBPL consultant. Contact her if you have any questions, want to go to a JBPL partay or want to get some of this fun stuff!
