it takes faith to pray.
it takes prayer to have faith.
it’s all a little confusing.
it’s takes faith to pray because you have to believe there’s someone you’re praying to. He has to be all powerful and way bigger than you if you’re praying to Him to provide something. He has to be somewhat in control of things, right? it takes faith to trust in a creature like that. it takes faith to know He is going to listen, that He loves you, that He wants the best for you. that’s a lot to believe in. that’s a lot to trust!
but it takes prayer to have faith. Prayer brings about faith because it brings you into relationship with God. It takes a relationship to really get to know someone, to trust them, to know that He has your best in mind. It takes prayer to have the relationship in the first place.
so which one comes first? is it a chicken and the egg question?
or is it that they work together? for one to happen, you need the other?
Hebrews 4:15-16 says:
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
faith is having the confidence … prayer is the drawing near to the throne of grace.
go with confidence today, my friends.
